Roy Moore, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama, did not appear on the campaign trail over the weekend in the run-up to Tuesday's election and instead, had plans to attend the Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia, according to Republicans briefed on his schedule, Politico reported.
Moore's Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, appeared across the state over the weekend alongside Democrats such as Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., the website noted.
"What kind of senator hides from his constituents?" Jones told reporters, according to Politico.
One of the Republican sources said that Moore's football trip was discussed with his campaign, and he was determined to go. His campaign declined to discuss his whereabouts, according to Politico.
"Roy is at the Army-Navy game to see his son…family comes before politics for Roy," Tom Barnes, Moore's Cullman County, Alabama campaign chair, told Vice News.
Moore's son Micah attends West Point, the Vice News report noted.
The Washington Post on Nov. 9 reported claims that Moore had pursued teenage girls, including one 14-year-old, when he was in his 30s.
