Mitt Romney took issue on Monday with President Donald Trump's reported comment about Haiti and African nations, calling it "antithetical to American values."

Romney, who is said to be considering a Senate run from Utah, made his remarks in a tweet as the nation marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Trump has insisted he is "not a racist," after he reportedly referred to Haiti and African nations as "s***hole countries." He also tweeted a denial about the comment.

Both The Washington Post and The New York Times had reported about the comment, which was confirmed by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who was at the White House meeting where it was reportedly said.
