Jason Miller, the chief spokesman for President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, on Monday told Newsmax TV that it might be a good idea for the president to hold back on his large signature campaign rallies until later this summer or even into the fall, considering the spreading coronavirus outbreak.

"I think we're going to have to shut them down and pick them up in the summer," Miller, appearing on Newsmax TV's "Spicer & Co." with Democrat strategist Jessica DeLoach, commented. "If I were President Trump, I wouldn't be doing a big widespread rally at this point...until this fire starts to dissipate a lot more."

At that point, the president and whoever is chosen as the Democrats' nominee will have most of the summer and the whole fall to have rallies, said Miller.

DeLoach also spoke out during the episode about the racism that is starting to turn up in Asian communities because of the virus's origins in China.

"Just because a virus originated in one place, it has no bearing on an entire community,"  DeLoach said.

Meanwhile, Miller referred to Trump as a "wartime president" and said he was right to get ahead of coronavirus early and secure borders and limit flights.

"This is not something that will seize particular groups of people," said Miller. "This will attack anyone wherever it can."

Show co-host Sean Spicer, meanwhile, spoke out against price gouging, commenting that as fears grow about the illness, it is not time to "rake people over the coals."

"People have been buying in bulk things that they don't need that actually aren't even going to keep them safe," DeLoach agreed.

Miller said that in his opinion, much of the panic buying has already occurred, but next, services such as coronavirus testing will come into demand.
