Mike Huckabee on Monday criticized both James Comey and George Stephanopoulos over what he called the ex-FBI director's "sanctimonious" interview with the ABC News anchor on "20/20."
"Jim Comey setting a 'moral standard' after his sanctimonious, self-serving, book-selling 'interview' with former Clinton press secretary [Stephanopoulos] is like Harvey Weinstein setting standards for monogamy. Spare us!" Huckabee said on his Facebook page.
The remarks by the former Arkansas governor and two-time GOP presidential candidate come on the eve of the publication of Comey's new memoir, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership," which is highly critical of President Donald Trump.
Huckabee, a strong supporter of the president, said Comey's new book "feels more like a 'Fire and Fury' flop, than a 'tell-all memoir,''' referring to Michael Wolff's tome which chronicled the first nine months of Trump's administration.
"Comey let the American people down, and his words mean nothing anymore," Huckabee said on Facebook. "Regardless of whatever lies he spews, he is struggling right now with this recent news."
