GOP Rep. Sessions Loses to Ex-NFL Player Allred

Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, lost his bid to serve a 12th term in Congress at the hands of Democrat Colin Allred Tuesday night.

NBC News declared Allred the winner over Sessions, who was first elected to Congress in 1996.

The race was close heading into Election Day, with the RealClear Politics polling average showing Allred with a 4-point lead.

Allred is a former professional football player for the Tennessee Titans.
