Democratic incumbent Sen. Robert Menendez has boosted his advantage over Republican challenger Bob Hugin, leading 55 percent to 40 percent in the race for a Senate seat from New Jersey, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released on Monday.
Menendez has more than doubled his advantage since the survey from last month, in which he led only 51 percent to 44 percent.
Just 4 percent of likely voters remain undecided in the latest poll, with 6 percent of voters who do name a candidate saying they could change their mind by Election Day.
Other results from the poll include:
- Independent voters back Menendez 53 percent to 39 percent.
- Menendez leads 58 percent to 38 percent among women, and 51 percent to 44 percent among men.
- Hugin has the slight advantage among white voters, 50 percent to 47 percent, while non-whites support Menendez 71 percent to 19 percent.
The poll was conducted from October 29 until November 4, among 1,115 likely voters in New Jersey. The margin of error of was +/- 4 percentage points, including the design effect.
