The personal website of Melania Trump suddenly disappeared this week following an investigation by two journalists who claim her boast about graduating from college is false.
It's the second embarrassment this month for Donald Trump's glamorous wife after the discovery that a speech she gave at the Republican National Convention
lifted lines from a 2008 address by Michelle Obama.
Trump explained the sudden disappearance of her website, which now
links to the official online presence of the Trump Organization, in a tweet:
But she makes no mention of the claims made by Slovenian journalists Bojan Pozar and Igor Omerza in their book
"Melania Trump — The Inside Story: From a Slovenian Communist Village to the White House."
In her now-scrubbed website, Melania stated: "After obtaining a degree in design and architecture at University in Slovenia, Melania was jetting between photo shoots in Paris and Milan, finally settling in New York in 1996."
But the two authors write: "In her freshman year, the 19-year old [Melania] attended lectures on the following subjects: elements of architecture, fine arts, fundamentals of technical mechanics, architectural construction, descriptive geometry, mathematics, and an ideological (read 'communist') elective credit called 'General Partisan Resistance and Social Self-protection' ...
"Melanija would have made it to her sophomore year, even having failed 2 exams, but she was supposed to have gotten and held a 1-month internship and kept a journal about it."
Melania's claim of having graduated was also published in last week's official program of the Republican National Convention,
CBS News reports.
CBS also said it checked the university's official public records and found no mention of Melania having graduated with a degree.
The website's disappearance was
first reported by The Huffington Post.
The question of Melania's degree has been under scrutiny for several months.
