Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Sunday that President Donald Trump is better positioned in most battleground states than he was in 2016.

In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” McCarthy said the outcome, however, will all depend on who comes out to vote on Tuesday in those states.

“If you take the most of the battleground states, the president is in a stronger position than he was in 2016,” he said. “You look at Arizona, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Georgia, the president has a better position than he did four years ago, and that's what this is going to be a close race. It’s all [dependant on] whether people will turn out on Election Day.”

McCarthy touted an endorsement for the president on Sunday by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

“They have not endorsed a Republican since 1972, so they weighed what is best for Pennsylvania,” he said.

“I believe the president is a very strong position in Texas, Georgia, in Ohio, in Florida, in North Carolina,” McCarthy added. “I think it really comes down to if you look at where Pennsylvania is and Arizona, if the president's able to pick those up that's 280 electorates. He only needs 270.”

Yet McCarthy warned against assuming any state is “in the bag” for Trump.

“I don't think any state’s in the bag,” he said. “If I look at the early vote and the vote coming on Election Day I think it's disproportionately more Republicans turning out on Election Day because they want to see their vote go in and actually handed in. “
