Anger toward President Donald Trump has not wavered since he was inaugurated in 2017, but he's never stopped fighting since he took office. The choice is clear that voting for Democrat nominee Joe Biden would take the country backward, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Friday.
"The day after he was inaugurated, I remember driving from the hotel (and) the streets were filled," the California Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends."
"It started from day one to never give him an opportunity, which is so sad, because in the history of this country, regardless of who wins the White House, there is usually a honeymoon. This poor man has never had that moment to govern."
But still, he was able to achieve tax cuts, putting more people to work, bringing jobs back from overseas and raising everyone up, regardless of the color of their skin or their gender, said McCarthy.
"Think about how much more we could do if this president had a Congress and a Senate that would work for them," said McCarthy, calling for voters to take back the house from the Democrats and "retire" House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
"It's more than just the presidency," said McCarthy. "Joe Biden is not the same as he was before. Barack Obama has even said that there is no difference between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is a registered Socialist."
McCarthy, responding to Trump's acceptance speech, noted that Trump has kept his promises, while Biden has a 47-year history in Washington.
"Do you know when Joe Biden first went to the Senate? He served with people who were born in the 1800s?" said McCarthy. "I don't know how you are going to become the leader of the free world if you will not leave Delaware. He wouldn't even leave during the convention."
