The "Kissing Congressman," Louisiana Republican Rep. Vance McAllister, isn't getting a lot of love from election campaign donors.
Federal Election Commission reports show McAllister, trying to hold onto his seat in Congress — and deal with
lingering scandal over getting caught on videotape kissing a married staffer — pulled in less than $16,000 in the third fundraising quarter,
The Hill reports.
McAllister received money from 13 donors, other than himself, and four outside groups, The Hill reports.
He spent $230,000 during the July-through-September period, using a $400,000 personal loan to keep the campaign out of the red, The Hill reports. McAllister has about $193,000 in the bank.
In the lawmaker's bid to get elected to his first full term — he won a special election in 2013 — he's facing four other GOP candidates, all of whom topped his fundraising efforts, The Hill reports.
Zach Dasher, a relative of the Robertson family of AMC’s "Duck Dynasty" fame, led the way with $326,000, The Hill reports.
New polling shows McAllister with a slight lead in the crowded field.
If no candidate passes a 50 percent threshold, the top two vote-getters face off in a runoff.
