The Senate under Democratic rule is constipated and desperately needs the strong leadership of the GOP, says veteran Republican strategist Mary Matalin, a former adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney.
Appearing Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newmax TV, Matalin said the sweeping Republican victory in the midterm elections proves Americans weren't buying Democratic rule.

"Of course this was an affirmation of the opposition to [President Barack] Obama and his policies," she said.
"It was a repudiation and now we [will] have all the good ideas passed out of the House that have bipartisan consensus, not compromise and not capitulation.
"We need to deconstipate the Senate and we'll actually get some stuff done that both parties, and, more important, the country wants."
Matalin also said the uptick of GOP support from female voters shows that "women are not morons" when it comes to falling for the Democrats' phony charges of a Republican "war on women."
Republicans must now deliver, according to Matalin.
"I mean deliver practical things like the Keystone pipeline, corporate tax reform, and we should have a mandate for wider tax reform, wider regulatory reform … in government," she said.
"All of those things that people have been asking for since 1994 and have only received apostolically."
Matalin said the commander-in-chief's after-election speech in which he said he heard those Americans who voted as well as the two-thirds who didn't, indicates Democrats believe "the demographic is destiny."
"[They believe] the turnout in presidential years creates a far different elector than this one, which skewed older and whiter. That presumes that women are a homogeneous herd and Hispanics are a homogenous herd, that's what he's saying," Matalin said.
"He had a considerable drop-off and he also lost favorability of 19 percent among Hispanics and there's no more gender gap. If there's a gender gap, it's a double digit in favor of conservatism. He's in his own world."
"He makes Jimmy Carter looks good. That's what the Democrats are saying."
