If the Senate returns a healthcare bill that keeps some Obamacare taxes intact, that will be "problematic" for House members looking to drop the costs of premiums, Rep. Marsha Blackburn said Friday.
"I think the Senate wants to spend more," the Tennessee Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program. "We want to spend less. We want to give more power back to the state and also make certain that funding is not going to back abortion, but to women's healthcare.'
Americans want to make decisions on how they'll pay for healthcare, and to have more control over their policies, said Blackburn.
"That is why we passed our bill out of the House," she said, and lawmakers are now pushing forward with several other concepts, including allowing people to buy coverage across state lines.
Blackburn also spoke out against the leaks being made to the nation's media, saying that people releasing information are not serving this country well.
"It is unseemly and unfitting, and it does not serve the country well," said the congresswoman. "We need to find a way to keep the public trust and keep the trust of those we are working with and to do what is right for the American people. Leaking does not help that, it's a way of cheating."
Meanwhile, Blackburn called for an end to the vitriol being spread, which spurs divisiveness.
"It is something that has to happen, the vitriol, the death threats to individuals, the personal harm that you get any emails and threats against your staff, your family, concerns for individuals in the public sphere that want to come meet with us are interfaced with us, what we would like to see is for that hateful rhetoric to stop," said Blackburn. "We know we are not going to get everything we want. But we will stand with our principles and we will focus on policy, not on personal attacks."
