The two lobbyists, who leased a room to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, have been cited by the District of Columbia government for not having the proper license to enter into a rental agreement, CNN reports.
According to CNN, the property records show the room is in a condo purchased by Vicki Hart, a healthcare lobbyist. Her husband, Steven Hart, has lobbied the EPA, the news network said.
The D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs said the property owners do not have a business license needed to rent the property. The infraction "carries a potential fine of $2,034," according to the agency.
Pruitt has been under fire after it was disclosed her paid just $50 a night to stay in the condominium. He spent time there during a six-month period in 2017.
