Lindsey Graham: I've Been a Basket Case Since McCain's Death

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said the death of his good friend Sen. John McCain has left him a "basket case."

Graham made his remarks during a Tuesday interview on Fox News' "Fox & Friends." 

"I have been a basket case,' Graham said. "To all the friends that I have who reached out to me, thank you. It means a lot to me.

"All the tributes to John really matter. I appreciate getting the flag down and the president saying something nice. If I had to pick one person to explain America to someone from another planet, it would be John."

Graham said McCain could answer the question: "Who are these Americans?"

"John was my mentor, my friend and I feel a real obligation to send him off well and continue the legacy."

Graham recalled his last conversation with McCain and the last words the Arizona Republican said to him.

McCain told him: "I’ve not been cheated."

McCain, 81, died Saturday night, a little more than a year after he was told he had brain cancer.
