Sen. Lindsey Graham said Monday he believes the next president will "most likely" be a woman.
"The next president, whoever he or she — most likely she — is going to be, needs to get these defense cuts set aside," Graham said, according to video posted on Politico.
The South Carolina Republican made the comment at the Center for a New American Security's conference. Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton are expected to fetch their party's nominations next month.
Graham, who announced his candidacy for president last June and suspended his campaign in December, has criticized Trump several times.
Last month, he said
he would not vote for Trump or Clinton.
Graham took another jab at the real estate mogul during his appearance Monday.
"The bottom line: I think there's a fight within the Republican party for who we are on foreign policy, from the Rand Paul view to the Lindsey Graham, John McCain view," Graham said,
reports Politico. "And Trump's somewhere out there, somewhere saying something, I don't know where he's at. So, I think there's a more traditional view of foreign policy emerging on the Republican side. It's one of the reasons I wanted to run for president."
