A conservative group is launching a new ad attacking Sen. Mary Landrieu for supporting President Barack Obama's judicial nominees in a bid to undermine the Louisiana Democrat's bid for re-election next year.
According to
The Washington Post, the ad by Judicial Crisis Network also attacks the third term senator for backing the "nuclear option," a procedural rules change in the Senate that effectively ends
filibusters during consideration of most presidential nominees. The change angered Republicans.
"Mary Landrieu voted for every one of Obama's liberal activist judges," say the narrator of the 30-second ad to be Monday, the Post reported.
"Landrieu even helped change the rules to pack a key court with new liberal judges," the narrator says.
The group is spending six figures to air the ad statewide for two weeks, according to the Post.
Landrieu, whose seat is considered vulnerable, is being challenged by Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy, a Baton Rouge doctor elected to Congress in 2008.
Another conservative group, Americans for Prosperity, recently launched
ads against Landrieu for her support of Obamacare.
