Most Republicans don’t have high regard for Democratic policies related to the Vietnam War in the 1960s and ‘70s. But Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, says that in their effort to defund the new healthcare law, Republicans should borrow from techniques used by Democrats back then to curb spending on the war,
The Hill reports.

"We should follow the model of the appropriations bill that shut off the funding for the Vietnam War," King said at a town hall meeting in Washington, D.C. Tuesday night. "It went back to any money that was in the pipeline. That precedent is there."
King says a key goal for him now is to persuade his House Republican colleagues that they must do more than withhold funding for Obamacare through the current fiscal. “Shutting off all funding that's been automatically put in the pipeline by the passage of Obamacare must be done."
