House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy leads a slate of prominent Republicans who appear on the just-released list of Donald Trump delegates from California to the GOP convention in July,
Politico reports.
Although California's June 7 primary has lost its luster due to the suspension of the campaigns of both Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. Jon Kasich, the release of the list comes at a time when many prominent Republicans are outright refusing to back Trump or wavering in their support for the party's presumptive nominee.
Among those who are not yet ready to back Trump is House Speaker Paul Ryan, who is also the chairman of the Republican National Convention. He is scheduled to meet Trump this Thursday in an attempt to smooth over differences and find a common way forward.
McCarthy is also set to talk with Trump this Thursday and told
23 ABC News in Bakersfield, California that that "we're going to find a way that we can unite. There's some things I disagree with Donald Trump on. I want to make sure we have a very conservative approach to government. I'm concerned about the Supreme Court."
Other prominent names on the California delegate list in addition to McCarthy include Reps. Darrell Issa and Duncan Hunter, as well as Dennis Revell, a son-in-law of Ronald Reagan.
