Most voters do not want to see Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., the Democrat candidate for vice president, become commander-in-chief, according to a new poll from the Independent.
The survey, which was conducted with the British research group JL Partners, found that less than one-third of voters said they would like to see President Harris, 28%, while just under half, 44%, said they would not support Harris becoming president.
Even among supporters of Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden, only 44% said they would support Harris as president, compared to 20% who would not.
Harris, the first woman of color to serve as running mate on a major party’s presidential ticket, has faced repeated attacks from President Donald Trump and others, including false accusations that she was born outside the United States and is ineligible to serve as president.
The Independent poll surveyed 1,002 American voters from Oct. 26-28, 2020. No margin of error was given.
