Judge Andrew Napolitano, the Fox News senior judicial analyst said he was "disappointed" in President Donald Trump’s choice of Brett Kavanaugh as his Supreme Court nominee.
“I am disappointed in the president because this is not the type of person that he said he would pick. Justice (Andrew) Gorsuch was. This person is at the heart and soul of the D.C. establishment against whom the president railed,” Napolitano said Tuesday on "Fox & Friends."
Napolitano said that different groups wanted each of Trump’s four nominees for the position being vacated by Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement: religious conservatives wanted Amy Coney Barrett, Trump’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry wanted Thomas Hardiman, academic conservatives wanted Raymond Kethledge, and the Washington, D.C. establishment wanted Kavanaugh.
The nomination of Kavanaugh drew praise on MSNBC Tuesday as "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough called Kavanaugh "eminently qualified."
Some Republican lawmakers, such as Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Tom Cotton, R-Ark., may not support of Kavanaugh because he is a believer in big government. "Do I think he’ll be confirmed? Yes, I think he’ll be confirmed but I think you’re going to see some incoming fire from the right on him," Napolitano said on "Fox & Friends."
