Sen. Rick Scott and Rep. Jim Jordan Friday slammed the actions of the Obama administration and the FBI concerning the revelations in the Russia investigation and called for accountability over the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
"When they were shocked that President (Donald) Trump won, they go after people like Michael Flynn," Scott, R-Fla., said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "This is what the Obama administration did. Let's not forget, look at what the IRS did. They went after conservative groups. So this is wrong and people need to be held accountable. This is not what people expect out of their federal government."
People don't trust the government, Scott added, and that will involve holding the Department of Justice and the last administration responsible for Flynn's conviction.
"We know the Obama administration had political bias against conservative groups," said Scott. "There are agencies that target people. That cannot happen again in this country."
Jordan, R-Ohio, in a separate interview, said that the revelations concerning the Flynn investigation, confirms that the Russia investigation was "baseless and was baloney."
"Remember what they did, they went and spied on the Trump campaign," said Jordan. "The dossier was written by Christopher Steele, who told the Justice Department that he was desperate to stop Trump. They used all that and then they go set up Michael Flynn, the three-star general and that shows just how baseless this was."
Jordan said he hopes the DOJ takes another look at former FBI Director James Comey, as "he was the guy at the top, telling (then FBI-agent) Peter Strzok, don't drop this investigation into Michael Flynn, even though the agents doing the work said there was nothing there."
