Axios White House reporter Jonathan Swan slammed "Fire and Fury" author Michael Wolff for a lack of "basic decency" and asked to be removed from the book's acknowledgements in future editions.

Swan's tweet-slam comes the same day that Wolff doubled down on his book's innuendo that U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley had — or is having — an affair with President Donald Trump.

In an interview with theSkimm, Wolff rebuffed the notion that Haley was "distraught" by the claim, saying she has instead "embraced it."

"All she does is hammer on this fact," Wolff said. "If I were being accused of something — and I'm not accusing her of anything — she hasn't tried to avoid this. And there's no one, the book doesn't accuse her, I didn't accuse her, so in effect some other reporter accused her."

While Wolff never mentioned Haley by name, he dropped a hint on Bill Maher's "Real Time" show of a bombshell near the end of his book that if you put 2+2 together, one might infer an affair between Trump and somebody.

"You just have to read between the lines," Wolff told Maher, adding that he lacked definitive proof.

Reporters then scoured the book, put 2+2 together and came up with Haley, who was mentioned in the book as having spent a lot of time together with Trump on Air Force One and discussing her career with the president.

Haley denounced the rumors as "disgusting" and "highly offensive."
