Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., took back his remark supporting the theory that Ukraine hacked the Democratic National Committee's computer network during the 2016 presidential election.
Kennedy made his latest comments during an interview on CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time" on Monday.
"I was wrong," Kennedy said. "The only evidence I have, and I think it's overwhelming, is that it was Russia who tried to hack the DNC computer. I've seen no indication that Ukraine tried to do it."
On Sunday, Chris Wallace of Fox News asked Kennedy for his thoughts on who was behind the hacking of the DNC computer. Wallace had noted the intelligence community agreed Russia was responsible.
"I don't know, nor do you, nor do any of us," Kennedy said. "It could also be Ukraine."
Kennedy told Cuomo he misheard the question. He said he believed Wallace had asked him whether Russia interfered with the 2016 election.
