John Bolton continues to clean house as President Donald Trump's new national security adviser, with Deputy National Security Adviser Ricky Waddell reportedly on his way out the door.
According to Axios, Waddell will leave his West Wing job in the near future because Bolton wants to bring in someone else to serve as his right-hand man. This news follows the resignation of White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert, announced this week.
Army Gen. H.R. McMaster was Bolton's predecessor and he had brought in Waddell after he took office last year. Waddell initially replaced K.T. McFarland.
Waddell is a major general in the Army and, according to Axios, he will receive his third star, which would make him a lieutenant general. He plans to stay in his post for the time being to aid in the transition of Bolton's new deputy.
