Hours after White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert announced he was resigning, the administration signaled Tuesday that John Bolton was through with what appears to be a purge of personnel within the National Security Council he now heads.
"I don't have any other personnel announcements to make at this time," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told Newsmax after we asked if there were any other changes coming in Bolton's official family.
But the president's top spokesperson did quickly add "we'll certainly keep you guys posted."
Bossert, cybersecurity expert and formerly deputy homeland security adviser to George W. Bush, earned high marks from the White House press corps for briefing them on the hurricane that battered Puerto Rico and the cyberattack the administration blamed on North Korea.
His departure came on the heels of a similar exit by NSC spokesman Michael Anton. Anton, formerly associated with Hillsdale College and the Claremont Institute, is highly regarded by the conservative movement nationwide.
But Bolton, also considered a conservative icon, reportedly wants his own team.
