"Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough Tuesday urged President Donald Trump to quit watching his early morning program after the president asked on Twitter if a cold case investigation would be opened on the former representative in connection with the death of an intern in 2001
"For your sake, Donald, as I've been saying for years, for your sake and the sake of America, you need to stop watching our show. Okay? It's not good for you," the MSNBC host said. "I think that might be why you go out and you're distracted...you do your job, we'll do ours. America will be much better off for that. Just go. Turn off the TV, Donald."
Scarborough's comments came after Trump's tweet asking "when will they open a Cold Case on the Psycho Joe Scarborough matter in Florida. Did he get away with murder? Some people think so. Why did he leave Congress so quietly and quickly? Isn’t it obvious? What’s happening now? A total nut job!"
Trump has been needling Scarborough with comments about the death of intern Lori Klausutis, 28, who was found in the then-congressman's office in Florida. A medical examiner ruled her death accidental, saying she'd fainted because of an undiagnosed heart condition and hit her head on a desk.
Earlier in the morning Tuesday, Trump also referred to Scarborough as "Cold Case Joe" when he retweeted an article from JustTheNews.com, detailing Scarborough's apology to Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, after Scarborough had retweeted a since-debunked Jimmy Kimmel video claiming to show Pence carrying empty boxes outside a nursing home facility.
