Scarborough Rips Trump Supporters for Cheering Attacks on McCain, Bush Sr.

Joe Scarborough on Friday lashed out at supporters of Donald Trump who cheered the president’s attacks on cancer-stricken Sen. John McCain and former President George H.W. Bush, who recently lost his wife of 73 years and is suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

"At what point is there decency in the crowd? Where people stop cheering when he mocks a man who has brain cancer and who’s again, fighting for his life? A losing struggle for his life?" asked Scarborough, a former GOP congressman and co-host of MSNBC’s "Morning Joe."

“Or George H.W. Bush, a man who fought in World War II, was shot down by the Japanese, served America overseas as ambassador to China, opening up that relationship, served as ambassador to the United Nations, was a congressman, was a vice president … was a man that helped win the Cold War with [Ronald] Reagan …"

During a rally Thursday in Montana, Trump got applause as he slammed McCain for his vote against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act last year. And the crowd also approved as he mocked Bush’s famous "thousand points of light" quote in support of volunteerism.

"What does that mean? I know one thing: Make America Great Again, we understand. Putting America first, we understand. Thousand points of light, I never quite got that one. What the hell is that? Has anyone ever figured that one out?” Trump asked to the shouts of his supporters.

Scarborough commented: "I’m not shocked by Donald Trump doing this. Donald Trump doesn’t understand this, because he is the most selfish man who has ever sat in the White House ...

"This is about the Republicans that are sitting in the crowds, that voted for George H.W. Bush in 1998 and 1992, and voted for John McCain in 2008, who are now sitting there laughing at two men in their final days. What does that say about their character? … They must have found the 6,500 meanest people [for the rally]."
