Former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio is scheduled to speak Thursday on behalf of a Republican congressional candidate at President Donald Trump's Rancho Palos Verdes, California golf club, The Hill reports.
Arpaio is stumping for Republican Omar Navarro, who is looking to unseat Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., a critic of Trump's.
In August, Trump pardoned Arpaio, who had served as Maricopa County sheriff in Arizona. Arpaio had been convicted of criminal contempt for ignoring a judge's order to stop racial profiling policies, The Hill noted.
Extra local law enforcement officers will be on hand for Arpaio's speech in the event of any protests, the Daily Breeze reported.
Arpaio's address is scheduled for 8 p.m.
