Joe Arpaio, the controversial former Arizona sheriff, predicted Republican Omar Navarro will defeat incumbent Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., the Daily Breeze reports.
"I don't know her, but I don't like her," Arpaio told Navarro supporters at a campaign fundraiser at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. "If you can't beat her, Omar, there's something wrong."
And he added: "I predicted [in 2015 that Trump] would be the next president, so I guess I'm good at predicting. I'm predicting Omar will win this election."
Waters has been a vocal critic of the president.
Arpaio, who had served as the sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, was recently pardoned by Trump after he was found guilty of criminal contempt of a federal court order, The Washington Post noted.
A federal judge refused to erase the conviction on Thursday, the Post reported.
