President Joe Biden's "opening salvo" of executive orders are revealing an "aggressive push to forcibly implement liberal policies" on Americans, Rep. Jody Hice said Thursday.
"The president is demonstrating his willingness to sacrifice the well-being and livelihoods of millions of Americans," the Georgia Republican said on Fox Business' "Mornings With Maria." "So much for unification; this is an effort to appease a handful of radical extremist activists, rather than look after the best interest of the American people."
Hice's comments came before Biden's plans Thursday to sign orders that include lifting some restrictions on abortion funding and on reopening the Affordable Care Act signups to allow more access to healthcare during the coronavirus pandemic.
The lawmaker said Biden, who had run as a moderate, is being pulled by "radical left-wing" Democrats who are in many ways detached from rank-and-file Democrats across the country, particularly in rural America.
"President Biden has fallen right into that trap," said Hice. "You look at all the executive orders that he is currently implementing, it really is forcing those radical policies among the American people. I believe this is going to be problematic, not only for him and his administration but certainly for the attempts, at least the rhetoric to have unity in America."
He also said there will be a "lot of buyer's remorse" in upcoming days when Americans start to understand the "radical agenda" behind the Biden administration.
"It's not an agenda that is liberty and freedom that we love and cherish in this country," Hice said. "It is a continued step in the direction of socialism, which is bigger government and less freedoms for the American people."
