Jerry Springer is reportedly considering a run for Ohio governor.
Jene Galvin, who co-hosts a weekly podcast with Springer, told the Cincinnati Enquirer "The Jerry Springer Show" host's decision could come "pretty soon."
"There have been those who have asked him to run for governor, and he is considering it," Galvin told the newspaper. ". . . He's about done figuring it out, but he had to give some serious thought to it first."
Springer, a former mayor of Cincinnati, has been rumored to be interested in the job — and has denied it, the outlet noted. But the prospect came back up last week after Springer asked some Cleveland Democrats: "Is it too late to enter the Ohio governor's race?" according to the outlet.
Many unions and Democratic leaders have withheld their endorsements from the four current candidates until the field is set, the Enquirer reported, adding Springer has two assets other Democrats in the race lack: name recognition and money.
"Everyone knows who Jerry Springer is," Democratic political consultant Bill DeMora told the newspaper.
He would join other celebrities considering public office, including musician Kid Rock, a Republican who reportedly expressed interest in a Senate run in Michigan, and Olympic gold medalist and transgender activist Caitlyn Jenner, who is thinking about a Senate bid.
