James Comey, who was fired from his post as Federal Bureau of Investigation director by President Donald Trump, is looking to take on critics during the tour for his book, Axios reported.
Trump fired Comey May 9, 2017, and Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel eight days later.
"He's eager to go where his critics are and take them on," Axios' Mike Allen said.
"Comey has been quiet for nearly a year … he has heard a lot of lies and misstatements about the FBI that he intends to correct," Allen said.
Comey worked with Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama before Trump "and will compare and contrast the first two he served to the third," Allen said.
"What he says is going to rattle a lot of china," Allen said.
The publisher of Comey's book is taking extraordinary precautions to protect its contents, Politico reported Thursday.
