Support for President Donald Trump's impeachment and removal from office has reached an all-time high in the latest Fox News poll.
A combined 55% now support President Trump's impeachment, which includes a record 51% who want him impeached and removed and another 4% want to see him impeached but not removed, according to the poll results.
Just 40% are opposed to impeachment.
Those numbers reflect a large jump since July, when 42% favored impeachment and removal, 5% impeachment and not removed, and 45% opposed impeachment.
Here is a political affiliation breakdown of the impeachment support increases:
- Democrats up 11 points.
- Republicans up 5 points.
- Independents up 3 points.
Also, some of President Trump's general demographic supporters now increasingly back impeachment proceedings:
- Rural whites up 10 points.
- White men without a college degree up 8 points.
- White evangelical Christians up 5 points.
As the 2020 election approaches, Fox News also noted impeachment is up 10 points from 42% to 52% in swing counties where Hillary Clinton and President Trump were within 10 points in 2016.
The Fox News poll was conducted Oct. 6-8 among 1,003 registered voters nationwide and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
