Republicans back President Donald Trump over his former White House adviser Steve Bannon by a 57-point margin in a new poll.

Key results from the HuffPost/YouGov survey:

  • 61 percent of Republicans agree with Trump, while 4 percent side with Bannon, in the wake of comments each one made that were critical of each other.
  • 46 percent of Republicans and 41 percent of everyone surveyed said Bannon leaving the White House last summer was good for the country. Five percent of Republicans and 6 percent of everyone said it was a bad thing.
  • 68 percent of Republicans and 49 percent of everyone said Trump's decision to oust Bannon was the right one. Three percent of Republicans and 10 percent of everyone said the opposite.
  • 13 percent of Republicans have a very favorable or somewhat favorable opinion of Bannon; 79 percent of Republicans said the same about Trump.

Bannon left the White House last August. He recently generated headlines after he was quoted in a new tell-all book making disparaging statements about Trump and members of the first family.
