Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton leads her counterpart on the GOP side, Donald Trump, by only three percentage points in a theoretical general election matchup, according to a new George Washington University Battleground Poll.
Previous polls have shown her with a larger lead over Trump, and the bipartisan Battleground Poll results fall within its 3.1 percent margin of error.
Here are the results of the poll of likely voters:
- Clinton: 46 percent
- Trump: 43 percent
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders fares better against Trump, besting him by 11 points in the poll.
- Sanders: 51 percent
- Trump: 40 percent
All five remaining Republicans and Democrats have high unfavorable ratings, according to the poll, with only Sanders and Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich having an unfavorable rating below 50 percent.
Here's how those stack up:
- Donald Trump: 65 percent
- Hillary Clinton: 56 percent
- Ted Cruz: 55 percent
- Bernie Sanders: 44 percent
- John Kasich: 29 percent
The poll was conducted April 17-20 and talked to 1,000 likely voters from both parties nationwide.
