Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is considering Brooklyn as the location for her campaign headquarters for the 2016 presidential election.
Clinton, who is not yet officially a candidate but the clear front-runner for the Democratic nomination, has been focused on New York City for a location. She has narrowed her search after mostly ruling out an office in White Plains, near the Clintons' home in Chappaqua, New York, sources told
The Hill.
Those close to Clinton thought that the middle-class neighborhood of White Plains would be a good choice, but Brooklyn may be more appealing to younger voters, as
Clinton has been labeled by Republicans as "old and stale." The borough is the city's most populous, and also one of the country's most ethnically diverse areas.
Clinton's 2008 campaign headquarters were located in Ballston, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., in a former Immigration and Naturalization Service building.
Her personal office is currently located in midtown Manhattan, in addition to the office she has had at the Clinton Foundation since 2013, which is also located in midtown Manhattan.
Former President Bill Clinton also has an office in Harlem.
