John Bardis, the Health and Human Services official who approved former secretary Tom Price's charter jet flights, is resigning, Politico reported Friday.
The resignation will be effective April 6, according to the report. Bardis served as HHS assistant secretary of administration since March 2017, and was responsible for departmental operations.
Bardis helped oversee the ReImagine HHS project, a program to overhaul the agency and reduce costs.
Price resigned as HHS secretary in September after traveling on private and military jets at taxpayer expense.
Alex Azar replaced him as secretary.
"I am deeply grateful to President [Donald] Trump, Secretary (Alex) Azar, Secretary Price, and Deputy Secretary (Eric) Hargan for the opportunity to work on the American people's behalf at HHS," Bardis said in a statement, Politico reported.
Jon Cordova, Bardis' deputy, was allowed to return to HHS after being under investigation for spreading conspiracy theories on social media, Politico reported earlier in March.
