Rep. Steube to Newsmax: Hegseth Will Put Warriors First

By    |   Tuesday, 10 December 2024 02:04 PM EST

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Tuesday he hopes Pete Hegseth is confirmed as secretary of defense.

"He's going to put warriors first and bring the Department of Defense out of this woke ideology that's been infested into the Department of Justice under the Biden administration," Steube said on "Newsline."

Steube said he had spoken to a senator who believed Hegseth would get confirmed. Steube said President-elect Donald Trump should have his Cabinet picks confirmed.

"President Trump won overwhelmingly; he won the swing states," Steube said. "We have to put his people in, and the Republican senators need to respect that. And I think they're going to move forward, and we can get the America First agenda through."

Steube said he hopes the Senate moves quickly.

"Trump's got to get all of these people in right away," Steube said. "The Senate's got to move into confirmation hearings right away so that he can get his Cabinet in right away and get to work for the American people."
