GOP Experts on Trump's Healthcare Ideas: 'Incoherent Mishmash'

Republicans are increasingly exasperated at the confusing litany of ideas Donald Trump is spouting off the nation's health care, The New York Times reports.

And call them "an incoherent mishmash" which may end up dismantling the coverage that millions of previously uninsured Americans have signed have signed up for under the Affordable Care Act.

Trump wants President Barack Obama's signature health plan, also known as Obamacare, to be fully repealed, but his alternatives are creating a stir.

One would allow Americans to file tax deductions for insurance premium payments, but his aides say it wouldn't help low-income earners pay little or in federal income taxes, according to The Times.

For the low-incomers, Trump would turn Medicaid into a block grant to state governments.

Gail Wilensky, who ran Medicare and Medicaid under the first Bush administration, told the newspaper if Obamacare was repealed, "You've got to have a serious way to expand coverage to replace what you have taken away. There's nothing I see in Trump's plan that would do anything more than cover a couple million people."
