Republican strategist Sarah Isgur Flores said President-elect Donald Trump will pick the best candidates for jobs in his administration and not focus on "identity politics," according to Mediaite.
During an appearance on MSNBC'S "Andrea Mitchell Reports" Monday, Flores discussed Trump's meeting with with Mitt Romney, with whom he has shared a rivalry. Host Andrea Mitchell characterized their rivalry as "vicious," but Flores said anyone who serves in government has a sense of duty, which would outweigh any personal issues.
Trump working with Romney, Flores continued, "sends a powerful message to all Americans that we're putting our disagreements aside, we're bringing in people who we disagree with, because we're going to hear all voices at the table."
All of the positions Trump has filled so far have been with white men, and Mitchell asked if women or people of color would be called to fill higher-up positions.
"We'll see, I think that Donald Trump has shown throughout this that he will not use identity politics or political correctness to pick people," Flores said. "He's going to clearly pick people who are absolutely best for the job in his opinion."
Americans voted for "the end of identity politics… I don't think you'll see a quota system in the Cabinet. I think the American people have rejected that in this election," she added.
