A political nonprofit affiliated with the established super PAC America Rising, is ramping up support for Republicans in the House of Representatives by putting Democrats on the defensive, the Washington Examiner reported.
AR2 is supporting Republicans in battleground regions starting with Minnesota, Florida, Nebraska, and northeastern states, the report said.
"The battle for the House in 2018 is on, and AR2 is deploying our proven system of opposition research and rapid response to take the fight to liberal policies and those pushing them at the state level," Brian Rogers, the group's executive director, said in a statement provided to the Examiner.
"AR2 is dedicated to promoting the principles of freedom, limited government, free enterprise, and a strong national security, and pushing back against big government liberal policies and the special interests that support them," according to the group's website.
As a 501(c)4 organization, AR2 can raise money in unlimited quantities and does not face requirements to reveal contributors. An AR2 spokeswoman declined to reveal names of donors or how much money it plans on investing in House races, the report said.
Veteran Republican operatives Andrea Bozek and Kirsten Kukowski are advisers for the group; Bozek was formerly with the National Republican Congressional Committee and Kukowski worked for the Republican National Committee, the report said.
The group will direct information and messaging to local political reporters in the targeted areas, instead of Washington's press corps, the Examiner reported.
