Glenn Beck: Draft Romney Now in Case Trump 'Implodes'

By    |   Wednesday, 10 August 2016 11:39 AM EDT

Conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck says the GOP must have contingency plans in case Donald Trump's ever-turbulent run for president goes belly up — and that means Mitt Romney or Ted Cruz stepping up to the plate.

"I am not a Romney fan … but Romney should be drafted at this point and put his name in on Friday just in case [Trump] implodes and is 20 points behind. We have to have someplace else to go," Beck said on his syndicated radio show, a clip of which was posted on YouTube by Right Wing Watch.

"I really think that we have to draft somebody. I know he hates my guts, but I think we should reach out to Mitt Romney."

Beck also said he may personally reach out to Sen. Ted Cruz to see if he'd be interested in being Trump’s replacement.

He told Romney and Cruz: "Just put your name on the ballot in case we start to have [Trump falling] 20 points behind."
