Rudy Giuliani on Friday said he doesn't "know for sure" whether FBI informants were embedded in President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.
A guest on CNN's "New Day" morning program, Giuliani was reacting to the second day news that there was an - possibly two - FBI agent embedded in Trump's campaign for the purpose of spying.
"I don't know for sure, nor does the president, that there really was one. We're told that," Giuliani said on CNN.
The New York Times broke the story Wednesday night.
"The reporting corroborates what people have told us off the record. You don't know if they're right or not. They're people who knew a little about the investigation," Giuliani said.
However, Giuliani on Thursday said he was "shocked" by the report, implying that the NYT report was the first he had heard of such an operation.
"They (DOJ) should tell us if there was" FBI informants embedded to spy on Trump campaign. "Their obligation is on them," Giuliani said Friday.
