Special counsel Robert Mueller should “man up and make your decision” in the yearlong Russia probe — because he doesn’t really need President Donald Trump to wind up the investigation, Rudy Giuliani declared Sunday.
In an interview with ABC News’ “This Week,” the former New York City mayor and current lawyer for the president said “it's beginning to get resolved in favor of not” letting Trump answer Mueller’s questions.
“We’ll say, ‘hey, you got everything you need,’" Giuliani said. “‘You got 1.4 million documents, you have 28 witnesses.. the president’s given every explanation… You’ve got everything you need, what do you need us for?’”
“They don’t have him, so they have to make a decision without it,” Giuliani asserted. “So come on, man up and make your decision.”
Giuliani also said he has “tremendous suspicions” about what the president has dubbed “spy-gate” — referring to an FBI informant making contact with Trump campaign members — despite the agency making documents available to some congressional members.
“They concealed it for a year from the president,” he said. “If it shows nothing, if it was perfectly proper, why wasn't it sent to the president as soon as he got into office? … My instincts tell me there is something wrong.”
