Gary Cohn, the former National Economic Council director who resigned in March, said that he feels better since he exited his White House role.
"I'm taking my time right now and seeing what’s out there in the world... I feel freer, I feel more rested, I feel happier," Cohn said Tuesday on CNBC.
Cohn said he was now interested in working with younger entrepreneurs, and said he was intrigued by the work being done by Uber, Dropbox and Elon Musk.
The former director resigned from the White House amid a disagreement with administration officials over Trump's tariff plans. He said in the CNBC interview that he still opposes them.
"I am a free trader. That’s not a general comment. That is an absolute comment … I am anti-tariff," Cohn said on CNBC.
At another point in the interview, Cohn urged President Donald Trump and Congress to make permanent the personal tax reforms in the tax cut bill.
"We would like to go back and make the personal side permanent … we do not want that to expire,” Cohn said.
