The percentage of Americans satisfied with the way things are going has hit a 12-year high, Gallup reported Monday.
The pollster found 38 percent of Americans are satisfied with the nation's direction, similar to a 37 percent satisfaction rate registered in May — but making June's rate a numerical high since a 39 percent reading in September 2005.
Though satisfaction went up among Republicans and Independents, it remained stuck at 13 percent for Democrats, the poll found.
According to Gallup, the satisfaction rate, which is measured monthly, has topped 35 percent three times this year – a level reached only three times in the previous 12 years; once each in 2006, 2009, and 2016.
The pollster noted satisfaction with the nation is back to the historical average of 37 percent but remains below the majority levels reached in the economic boom times of the mid-1980s and late 1990s.
