Shooting Survivor Gabby Giffords Offers Support to Trump After Attack

By    |   Saturday, 13 July 2024 08:00 PM EDT

Former Rep. Gabby Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt in 2011, quickly responded to the apparent attack on former President Donald Trump, offering her support and condemning political violence, reported Fox News.

"Political violence is terrifying. I know. I'm holding former President Trump, and all those affected by today's indefensible act of violence, in my heart. Political violence is un-American and is never acceptable — never," Giffords said.

Giffords was shot in the head outside a Safeway grocery store in Casas Adobes, Arizona, during a gathering with constituents. The mass shooting resulted in the deaths of six people. Following the attack, Giffords resigned from Congress and continues to deal with the long-term effects of her injuries.
