Rep. Fred Keller, R-Pa., says Democrats, obsessed with the possible impeachment of President Donald Trump, have left the American people behind.
His comments came in a column posted by the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.
“Rather than work on issues that will benefit all Americans, such as lowering prescription drug costs and passing a fair trade deal with Canada and Mexico, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff are leading their conference down a never-ending rabbit hole of hearsay and conjecture,” he said.
“Unfortunately for hardworking Americans, Democrats in Washington have become so blinded by their disdain for Trump that they cannot see that their narrative is no longer able to stand on its own”
And Keller added: “Democrats began this sham impeachment trying to describe their allegations against the president as a quid pro quo. Then the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee polled Democrats’ impeachment messaging and realized it was failing.”
He maintained Democrats then switched from using “quid pro quo” to “bribery,” but still haven’t been able to back it up.
Keller claimed the impeachment inquiry has cost farmers and workers because of the failure to approve the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement.
And he said: “By focusing on impeachment and refusing to work across the aisle, the House Democratic majority is forcing the potential of another full-year continuing resolution into reality. That means things such as the pilot shortage, the munitions shortage, and reduced Navy flying missions will continue.
“The American people expect more, and their elected representatives in Congress should be doing more.”
