Former national security adviser John Bolton says in an upcoming interview that he finds it "frightening" that presumptive Democrat nominee Joe Biden has a view and plan on foreign policy, while President Donald Trump has none, as shown with the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
"The difference between Biden and Trump is that Biden has a view and Trump has no view on any given day, any decision," Bolton said in an excerpt from his interview with Fox News' Bret Baier.
He added that Trump's response to the coronavirus emergency was "herky-jerky, incoherent, sporadic, and not as effective as it could have been," and "demonstrates the kind of fear that I have."
"This crisis," he added, is "only a preview of what could happen in a more severe crisis."
Meanwhile, Bolton also says he has no regrets about joining the Trump administration, and that he'd do it again, but he found it disappointing that Trump was "so far outside" the party's mainstream national security.
Bolton, though, conceded he may have made "some mistakes" while in the White House, and he would like to be able to go back and fix them.
Bolton's comments come after numerous attacks from Trump and the White House concerning his new memoir, "The Room Where it Happened," which was released on Tuesday but has been coming under fire for several days. The White House has also tried unsuccessfully to block its publication and Trump on Tuesday called for his former adviser to be jailed for releasing classified information.
