The Russian foreign ministry Monday agreed with President Donald Trump that the investigation into allegations of Russian interference with the 2016 presidential election was a "witch hunt."

Trump said he would bring up the issue of election interference during his one-on-one meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I will absolutely bring that up," Trump said Friday, CNN reported. "I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it, I did it, you got me.'

"But I will absolutely, firmly ask the question . . . and hopefully we'll have a very good relationship with Russia," Trump added, CNN's report said.

Special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers, accusing them of a "sustained effort" to hack Democrats' emails and computer networks.
